The mission of The Posh Lotus Project Inc. is to eliminate period poverty within schools by providing public schools with free, quality, non-toxic feminine hygiene products.
What we know:
*Some school budgets are strained, which results in less money allocated for hygiene products.
*There is a need for high quality feminine products to be in school and accessible to menstruating girls.
*Lack of quality feminine hygiene products has an impact on a girl's self-esteem and school attendance.

Once a school has been discovered to be in need of feminine hygiene products The Posh Lotus Project Inc creates a distribution plan to provide the schools with the necessary products with door-to-door delivery service.

The need and impact: A letter from a mental health counselor

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter on behalf of Ms. Jessica Parris and her organization regarding providing free sanitary products to young women. I have worked as a social worker for over 20 years and have been working as a mental health counselor in a school for the last 3 years. I have lacked feminine hygiene products when needed, which feels incredibly unjustified and unfair. Schools should be able to supply feminine hygiene products for all scholars who are in need.
Not only is it causing a lack of presence in class, a lot of families can’t afford menstrual products leaving their kids to struggle at home and school. It is estimated that of 1 out of every 10 menstruating girls and young women miss school due to the lack of access to period products. Not having the necessary products during this time also affects self-esteem and self image.
Providing free sanitary pads would promote better menstrual hygiene practises among schoolgirls, leading to a reduction in the risk of health complications.
As a community, we want all of our students to be learning, and maintaining comfort while going through the school day. Therefore, we need a reliable supply of menstrual products in our schools, so that girls do not continue to miss school, and remove the stigma of periods for many future generations to come.
With your support Ms. Parris will be able to ensure that girls and young women who have already begun their menstrual cycles will be able to obtain free products during this time.
